The Study Center houses a film library (25,000 titles on video, DVD or in the form of digital files), a library of cinema-related books and periodicals (16,000 books, circa 300 magazines, early magazines on microfilm), as well as various special collections (2,000,000 photographs, posters and programs) and bequests.
In the Study Center’s reading room, important reference works are available for perusal in open access shelvings. Additional titles are promptly retrieved from storage on request. Visitors can also enjoy the use of one of the individual viewing booths to view films. Furthermore, the Study Center frequently hosts lectures and workshops in collaboration with universities, technical colleges and various Viennese cultural and research institutions.
During opening hours, use of the library is free of charge. Members also have free access to the film library and other special collections held by the Film Archive. If you want to view a film, please make an advance appointment per e-mail or telephone. The Film Archive Austria’s Study Center at the Audio-Visual Center Augarten provides an entryway to all collections held by our house.
